Summer Madness x Winter Sadness | Halfway Home........

Cold ass rainy weather can be a downer, but its also a great time to stay inside and rip vinyl from tha ol' record collection.

Last couple days been focusing on some classic house sh*t. Thought I would share a few with yall... These tracks are over 15 years old, and stand up to anything coming out today, in my opinion. These are superbly produced danefloor soul records....

First up is a classic vocal house track which I first heard at tha Shelter in NY in 1991. Michael Watford remains one of tha greats of soulful house vox, and he kills this Roger S. produced track.

Next up is yet another amazing vocal house track, one of my older brother's favorites and one that he INSISTED I purchase when it came out. I remember buying it at Star Records off Hayes street in SF and being blown away when I first heard it. His LP that followed on MCA Records was also incredible, track it down if you can.

Mr. Fingers, "Closer" (Frankie Foncett Underground Dub)

Tha next track is slightly more obscure, but no less classic. It's a hip-house track by a group called Numarx; tha rap on it was sorta lame but house music legends tha Basement Boys worked their magic on tha flip and made this one into a classic. This track emerged when hip-house and Baltimore Club music were emerging; tha Basement Boys were on tha forefront of some of these new sounds and fusions. This track is definitely reminiscent of their biggest commercial hit, "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" by Crystal Waters, as well as "Push the Feeling On," "Plastic Dreams" and other big house records from tha early 1990s.
